NFL player encourages local athletes to embrace God

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - A Mississippi born and raised NFL player, Demario Davis, visited Hattiesburg and the University of Southern Mississippi for Good Friday.

Davis is a Middle Linebacker with the Cleveland Browns and is this year's Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) guest speaker. Davis spoke at the 6th Annual FCA's 'Good Friday Breakfast of Champions' to encourage young atheletes to embrace God.

Davis discussed his relationship with God and how God is the key to all of his experiences in his life, especially with the NFL. Davis told FOX 23 a relationship with God is the way to eternity.

“Not just as an athlete, but just as an individual it is important to have God behind you because He is the source of everything and the Creator of everything" said Davis.

He added, "He is the source of you, so why wouldn’t you want to have a relationship with your Creator.”

Davis hopes his speech will influence Pine Belt atheletes to embrace God in their life.
