2 injured in Easter Sunday car crash

JONES COUNTY, Miss. - A two vehicle accident Sunday evening shutdown the intersection of South Front Street and Main Street in Sandersville, and left two people injured. Sandersville and Rustin Volunteer Fire Departments responded to the scene of the accident and found two vehicles - a van blocking one lane of South Front Street and a car blocking one lane of Main Street near the railroad tracks - both with extensive damage.
According to reports, the adult female driver of the van was unconscious when initial units arrived on scene, but she later regained consciousness and was able to communicate with emergency responders. The driver of the van and an occupant of the red car were both transported by EMServ ambulance to South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel with what was believed to be moderate injuries.
The intersection remained shutdown during emergency and vehicle recovery operations. The cause of the accident is unknown.
