Community prepares for Deen & Tate End of Watch Memorial Motorcycle Ride
HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The 3rd annual Deen and Tate End of Watch Memorial Motorcycle Ride will happen Saturday at Hattiesburg Cycles.
Benjamin Deen and Liquori Tate were two Hattiesburg Police Officers who lost their lives while on duty back on May 9, 2015.
One of the ways the community honors them is through this fundraiser.
Hattiesburg Police Officer, Lt. Jon Traxler said, "It was a loss of our family is what it was. And that's the thing. This is our most recent of our fallen officers. All six that we've had that have fallen has been detrimental to our department. Of course when you lost two at one time so recent, it's still fresh on everybody's mind. And that's why we want to keep their flame going."
People can register to ride or be a passenger.
All proceeds will go to The Greater Pinebelt Community Foundation's Benjamin Deen and Liquori Tate's Scholarship fund.
"It helps out for the children of fallen officers as well as officers that are still employed. Their children can apply for it and be able to go to college," said Lt. Traxler.
Registration is from 8-10 a.m.
The ride begins at 10:30 a.m. and ends back at Hattiesburg Cycles around noon for lunch.
