Forrest County Sheriff's Dept. reporting more scam calls

FORREST COUNTY, MS. - The Forrest County Sheriff's Department said they received multiple reports of a phone scam involving the department.

According to Forrest County Investigator, Nick Calico, a caller is telling residents they have an outstanding warrant for not showing up for a court date with Judge McPhail over a traffic citation.

The scam claims if they do not take care of the warrant they will be arrested and must pay over the telephone.

"Do not give any type or send any money, anything like that" said Calico.

He continued, "We are not going to call you and solicit any type of payments for fines or for unpaid warrants, we will contact you via mail or we will contact you in person.”
