Southern Miss' online degree program reaches students from every state in the country

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss' online degree program recently reached a milestone.

The university's online degree program has now reached students from all 50 states in the country, which probably helps enforce the reason why Affordable Colleges Online ranked USM as the most affordable online college in the nation for the 2016-2017 year.

Tom Hutchinson, Office of Online Learning director said, "Having students from 50 states really says something about our affordability and our quality. It's taken awhile to get here, but I think the word is out nationwide that we're a great place to come to school. And for those students that can't come to the university, we offer the online option. So, it's really an accomplishment I think for USM in general."

The last state that enabled Southern Miss to reach all 50 states was Vermont.

Hutchinson said they have around 50 online programs to offer, which separates them from other universities.
