Victim identified in early morning crash in front of Canebrake

HATTIESBURG, MS. - One person was killed in an early morning car accident Friday on Highway 98.

Mississippi Highway Patrol Officer Brent Barfield said the accident was right in front of the Canebrake entrance closer to Highway 589.

According to Forrest County Coroner Butch Benedict the victim was identified as Richard Kraft, 75, of Madison Mississippi. Kraft died at Forrest General Hospital due to internal injuries sustained from the wreck.

Officer Barfield said Kraft was crossing the intersection when he traveled into the path of another vehicle.

The driver of the other vehicle in the wreck sustained minor injuries.
