HPD, Hub City Special Olympics participate in torch run

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Hattiesburg Police Department along with other law enforcement agencies participated in the annual Special Olympics Torch Run Thursday.

Hattiesburg Police officers ran the torch from city hall out towards Hardy Street with members from Hub City Special Olympics.

Hattiesburg Police Officer, Lt. Jon Traxler said, “We really enjoy doing this. This is just another way for us to sponsor and support the Special Olympics and the Special Olympians who are out there competing in these games. We like to give back to the community. They really enjoy us being there with them to be able to work with them, and run with them. It’s a really good time. It really touches our heart, touches the officers that’s participating as well.”

The Special Olympics will take place this weekend in Biloxi at the Keesler Airforce Base.
