MDOT employees compete in annual Equipment Operations Roadeo

FORREST COUNTY, Miss. - Various MDOT employees were at the Forrest County Multipurpose Center Thursday for the annual Equipment Operations Roadeo.

This was a chance for MDOT equipment operators to showcase their driving skills, techniques, and safety knowledge amongst their peers through different drills that included a backhoe, motor grader, and a tractor and bush hog.

District 6 maintenance engineer, Cape Jones said, “All of our county offices get together and I think there’s a lot of great cross-training that goes on. People can see how other operators from other parts of our district can operate equipment, and get new ideas, and can take that back and used that in their daily work.”

Winners received plaques. The top two people in each event will go on to compete in the state competition in Jackson.
