Hub-City receives two MML awards
HATTIESBURG, MS. - The Mississippi Municipal League (MML) awarded the city of Hattiesburg with two excellence awards.
MML is the official non-profit private organization of cities and towns of Mississippi.
Mayor Johnny DuPree said the city won the 2016 Excellence Award for City Spirit and Pubic Safety.
Hattiesburg received the City Spirit Award for the city's resilience after the deadly E-F3 January Tornado.
DuPree said the Pubic Safety Award was for the city's work for helping Hattiesburg's homeless population.
"In the 16 years that we have been here I think we have 11 to 12 awards, from the Mississippi Municipal League" said DuPree.
He added, "Other cities look at the city of Hattiesburg and wish they were the city of Hattiesburg."
