Southern Miss baseball players want to do something special

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss baseball team is getting ready to head over to Biloxi to play in the Conference USA Tournament.

The team is trying to capture its second conference championship in a row. But, the players are just focused on their first opponent, which is UTSA.

LHP, Kirk McCarty said, “We’ve kind of found our groove on the mound. We found our groove hitting the first game of the year. Both parts are working together and I feel like they are now. We’re playing good defense, and we’re really playing together as a team. We’re real excited man. We got a good chance to do something special.”

“We got to win the first one. We know that, and really not look past that. All it is with the tournament, we’re looking to beat UTSA, and whatever happens after that, we’ll address that the next day. But, we’re excited. We’re ready to be down in Biloxi. We’re going to leave this afternoon, get down there and settle in, and just get ready to go,” said McCarty.

The Southern Miss vs. UTSA game will begin at 4 p.m.
