HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss senior first baseman, Dylan Burdeaux has been named Conference USA’s Player of the Year.

Burdeaux is the first Southern Miss player to win this award.

He leads all Division 1 players in hits, with 97. And leads Conference USA in RBI’s, total bases, and stolen bases.

“It’s a team award. You got to look at being a leadoff hitter with the amount of RBI’s. That doesn’t happen with all the guys in front of me. All my numbers are definitely because of the people that’s around me

every day in that lineup. LeeMarcus Boyd in the bottom of that order has done a great job getting on, and getting into scoring position for me. This team, has just made it easy for me at the top of that order. I think we made it easy for everybody as a team collective group. It’s definitely a huge honor. I’m very thankful for this. But, it doesn’t go unnoticed that it’s a lot of people that have put me in this position to get me this award,” said Burdeaux.

Burdeaux is going into the conference tournament with an 11-game hitting streak, and will look to continue his impressive form, and get his team another win.
