Tropical Storm Cindy to hit Pine Belt

FORREST COUNTY, Miss. - Tropical Storm Cindy is expected to hit the Pine Belt Tuesday night.

Forrest County citizens are likely to see heavy rainfall.

Glen Moore, Forrest County Emergency Management director said, "Wind is not going to be a primary concern even though we could have maybe 30 mph wind gusts. But right now, we're looking at the potential of 4-6 inches of rain. And some spots could receive as much as 8 inches of rainfall. The southern part of the county is going to receive potentially the greatest amount of rainfall, but that's just one thing at this point and time we can't predict who that narrow of band of 8 inches it's going to be."

Moore said the ground is very saturated and any rainfall will lead to significant flash flooding. And there also is a chance of a brief tornado spinoff.

Moore also said the storm is expected to happen from late Tuesday night-Thursday morning.
