Jones Co. house fire leaves three homeless

JONES COUNTY, MISS. - A house fire in Jones County has left three people homeless early Sunday morning. Rustin, Sandersville, Powers, Glade and M&M Volunteer Fire Departments responded to the scene on Hopson Trailer Road in the Rustin community.

The individual who called 911 advised that the fire was in the carport area, but firefighters who quickly arrived on scene stated that the home was covered in flames. As firefighters began arriving on scene, firefighters made an aggressive exterior attack from multiple sides of the home. However, the home was heavily consumed by fire before firefighters had arrived, and the home was lost in the fire.

Initially it was reported from the seen that all occupants and pets had made it out of the home safely. However, it was later reported that two pets had died in the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Jones County Fire Investigator.
