Forrest Co. B.O.S vote to split costs on road improvements at Industrial Park with Hattiesburg

FORREST COUNTY, MS. - Mayor Toby Barker made his first appearance as mayor at the Forrest County Board of Supervisors meeting Monday.

Mayor Barker requested the county to assist the city to improve the neglected roads in Industrial Park.

"We are asking the county to come along side and partner with us in the leveling with the road" said Mayor Barker. He said Industrial Park is a big economic driver in Hattiesburg.

Supervisors voted unanimously to split the costs 50-50 with the city.

Mayor Barker said, "We are going to do an inch of a half in overlay, re-stride and work on the shoulders, and really set up those businesses to succeed in Industrial Park.”

Board President David Hogan said during the meeting, "We want to continue working well with the city and I certainly will be in favor in helping you all (city) with that road."

"We are glad to be getting it done, we had concerns about that road" said Hogan.

Crews were working on the roads Monday morning.
