Jones Co. man charged with domestic aggravated assault

Jones County, MS - Jones County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a possible assault victim at South Central Regional Medical Center Saturday.

The victim reported her boyfriend, Charles Godwin, hit her several times and attempted to strangle her after their verbal argument turned physical. The victim had visible marks on her body that were consistent with her report.

Godwin stated he "didn't mean to" put his hands on the victim because, he was defending himself. Godwin was taken into custody and charged with Domestic Aggravated Assault.

Judge Howell Beech set Godwin's bond at $5,000 and issued a No Contact Order.
