Southern Pine Animal Shelter to host Quin's Day

HATTIESBURG, MS. - The Southern Pines Animal Shelter will host Quin's Day this weekend.

The pet adoption event is in honor of Quin Thompson, a Sacred Heart student, who died is a car accident in 2013.

SPAS General Manager Ginny Sims said Thompson loved animals. Sims said the shelter has reached its capacity to intake more animals. The shelter said it needs the Pine Belt's help to foster or adopt 300 of its animals.

The event will be held at the shelter on Saturday and Sunday. Hattiesburg's Petsmart store will also participate in the event at their location.

Adoption fees will be waived for cats and kittens. Sims said select dogs will also be waived.

SPAS hopes to find homes for 100 pets.
