Pine Belt veterans check their claims at Petal Civic Center
PETAL, Miss. - Dozens of veterans stopped by the Petal Civic Center Wednesday for the Sonny Montgomery VA Medical Center town hall meeting where veterans had the opportunity to check on their general claims.
Darryl Brady, director of Jackson VA Regional Office said, "It's important that we have open communication with our veterans. What's most important is that we're here for them. And we're trying to establish trust, because it’s very important that we get our veterans to understand that we're here for him or her, and we'll do everything in our power to assist them in resolving their cases."
With the VA coming to Petal, veterans do not have to worry about traveling to Jackson and making an appointment for a brief one-on-one conversation.

Veteran, T.J. Gordon said, "We would like to have every veteran in the surrounding area to come out and see the benefits that they can receive. Some of the benefits a lot of veterans don't know about, and we would like to inform them by being here that they don't have to travel and they can get their information right here in their hometown."
Brady said they will return to Petal before the end of the year.
