Laurel crime rate decreases

LAUREL, Miss. - The Laurel Police Department has seen a decrease in crime.

Police said crime has gone down 5.6% during the first six months of 2017, and are happy with the results.

"We'd love for it to be more, but any decrease is good. It's much better than an increase. So, we're looking forward to hopefully continuing that trend through the end of the year and into the future," said Laurel Police Officer, Cpt. Tommy Cox.

If you see a crime, police urge you to contact authorities at (601) 425-4711.
