USM Marching band unveils renovated Pride Field

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - USM's Pride of Mississippi Marching Band and the Dixie Darlings will kick off the 2017-2018 football season with Pride Preview and a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newly-renovated Pride Field Friday.

Associate Director of Bands, Dr. Colin McKenzie, says it's exciting to showcase the band and share their new practice home with the community.

“It’s a classroom for the pride of Mississippi it is their environment in which they learn...that’s 300 students. Who are out there all fall who have to use that space and who will have that opportunity to use that space to learn so it’s great that it’s in really great shape," McKenzie said.

Mayor Toby Barker, USM and members of the community will attend the ribbon cutting ceremony tomorrow evening. Immediately after the ceremony the Pride Marching Band will host a free concert open to the public.
