Southern Miss prepares for Kentucky
HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Week one of the college football season is here.
Southern Miss has a lot of new faces on offense and defense. And head coach, Jay Hopson feels that his team is ready for Kentucky.
"They're a team that has our utmost respect. We know we got a good football team coming. They got playmakers on offense. The quarterback did a good job for them. I think they're a team that runs well," said Hopson.
"We've been pretty focused throughout the whole camp. It's just now we know that the time is now. It's here. I feel like it's definitely a time to put in all the last pieces that we need, and make sure that everybody is on-tact and tuned in to what their assignment is," said cornerback, Kelsey Douglas.
The Golden Eagles came back in the second half to beat Kentucky last year, which snapped a 13-game losing streak to SEC opponents.
Southern Miss did that with quarterback, Nick Mullens who is currently with the San Francisco 49ers.
For this upcoming game, there is a strong possibility that both Kwadra Griggs and Keon Howard will play quarterback, as Coach Hopson still has not made his decision on who will be the official starting quarterback for this season.
