Phone scam in Jones County

JONES COUNTY, Miss. - Jones County Deputies are warning citizens to be aware of a phone scam.

Deputies said scammers are claiming to be a part of the sheriff's department, and are telling people they need to pay a fine either through a money order or a Green Dot Card. Scammers are also telling people they did not attend jury duty, or have an arrest warrant for them.

Deputies said they will not contact you by phone to have you pay a fine.
