More information rises from Petal cold case, community remembers missing pregnant teen

PETAL, MS. - Family, friends, and investigators gathered Sunday to remember 17-year-old pregnant missing teen, Angela Freeman, on the anniversary of her 1993 disappearance.

According to head investigator, Rusty Keyes, the cold case has heated up in the last year. “There has been things that has surfaced for us in the last year."

Keyes adds, "That (information) has moved this case and has helped us a lot, and we want that momentum to continue.”

Freeman was last seen at the old Pizza Hut in Petal on September 10, 1993. Officials say Freeman was picking up her paycheck.

Angela's mother, Debra Freeman says, "This was the last place that anyone ever saw her alive at 1 a.m. in the morning and she was talking to an ex-boyfriend."

Her vehicle was later found abandoned near the old Mahned Bridge in Perry County. DNA found at the crime scene proved to belong to Angela. Her missing persons case was upgraded to a homicide.

Keyes says, "I do not want to get into exact evidence we have on this case, but I am using every tool that is available to us all the way from 1993 to today to help solve this case."

“It is sad, we can’t put a closure to it, we need that" says Angela's grandmother Clydell Freeman. Debra says, “I want this solved, I want to find out what happened to her.”

Two dozen people were present at the anniversary of Angela's disappearance. The group said a prayer and released balloons.

“You have bad days and you have good days, but you have to be there for her, because if I give up, who is going to do it?" says Debra.

"We know that there are answers out there that we need to completely solve this case, but we are asking the person who did this, to burden their heart and come forward to give the family peace in this case" Keyes says.

If you have any information on Angela's disappearance you can contact Metro Crime Stoppers at 601-582-7867.
