Operation Veteran Homes Renovation fixes Hattiesburg Veteran's home

HATTIESBURG, Miss - Mayor Toby Barker honored one local veteran for his outstanding military service in Vietnam and Iraq Monday afternoon.

Hattiesburg resident Jerry Holliman was selected by a national campaign board, Operation Veteran Homes Renovation, to receive home renovations.

“A lot of soldiers like me and a lot of others been forgotten about after service and stuff like that, then was pushed to aside, so this is outstanding. That someone would even think enough of a person to even do this,” said Jerry Holliman.

Among the repairs and installations, Holliman received a new air condition unit, wheel chair ramp, garage door and more.

“We’ve had a wheel chair ramp installed, we put in the central AC unit, we’re in the process of putting in a garage door opener which we’re in the process of working on for the next couple of days and then in addition to that we will be doing some yard work to spruce up the place a little bit,” said Elisha Harig-Blaine, Principal Housing Associate of National League of Cities.
