Car accident kills woman and 5-year-old girl

HATTIESBURG, MS. - A woman and child were killed in a two car accident Saturday night. Forrest County Coroner Jonathon Nobles identified the two victims as Jamia Odom, 26, of Port Gibson and Jalaya Williams, 5, of Hattiesburg.

Officials say Odom's car was hit while traveling on Veterans Memorial Boulevard around 7:30 p.m.

The five-year-old girl was sitting in the back seat of the car. "Both Odom and Williams were family friends and pronounced dead at the scene" says Nobles.

According to Nobles the driver and passenger that hit Odom's car were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
