This is a press release from Hattiesburg City Council.

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - At 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 28, Mayor Toby Barker and Chief Anthony Parker will swear in two additional police officers for Hattiesburg Police Department at City Hall.

Barker will issue the oath to Danielle R. Lewis, 29, and Andrew Reid, 27, both coming to Hattiesburg Police Department as lateral transfers.

“As we continue to build our police force numbers, we are excited these experienced professionals have chosen to transfer to the Hattiesburg Police Department,” said Barker. “It demonstrates that our department is on the rise.”

Lewis previously served with HPD in 2012 – 2014 and comes to Hattiesburg from Petal Police Department. Reid has spent the last four years with Columbia Police Department. Both served with the Mississippi National Guard.

Chief Anthony Parker will ceremoniously pin both officers, and they will report to the training academy following the ceremony. They will spend three weeks working through a refresher training course.

“The talent we are getting back with both Lewis and Reid exemplifies our dedication to recruiting the best out there who display a commitment to serve the people of Hattiesburg,” said Chief Parker.

The ceremony will take place on the 3rd Floor of City Hall.
