LPD prepares for annual 'Night out against crime'

LAUREL, Miss. - Laurel Police Department prepares for the annual 'Night out against crime' Tuesday, October 2.

This year's event will be at the Laurel Police Department's parking lot with free food, games for children, music and more.

LPD Lt. Jim Thornhill said this event serves as an opportunity for people in the community to meet police officers and establish a relationship.

"Attitude has a lot to do with what we do. But our job is basically helping other people, if you got a problem, and it’s a police matter, you call us,” said Lt. Thornhill

Police officers will pass out free backpacks and school supplies for children. This a free event, from 5pm-8pm and is open to the public.
