USM Wins Against LA Tech

The Southern Miss Golden Eagles find themselves right back into the drive seat in the Conference USA West division race after their thrilling win over LA Tech, and North Texas' loss against FAU.

Keon Howard hit Korey Robertson for a 25-yard score in the second overtime on Saturday night, and Southern Miss staged an improbable comeback to beat Louisiana Tech by a score of 34-27. The Eagles trailed by two scores with under two minutes left in regulation before getting a field goal and recovering an onside kick, before Howard hooked up with Robertson for a 22-yard score sending the game to overtime. USM head coach, Jay Hopson fired up about the win.

"Exciting game. Our guys kept fighting... found a way to win. I thought Korey Robertson played a tremendous game. He went up in the second overtime, tremendous catch and end of regulation great run to get into the end-zone. I thought Parker Shaunfield is a guy who made some crucial kicks," Hopson said. "Brigg Bourgeois great kick, and think Xavier and Paxton went in there and got the ball. Just a tremendous job there."
