Jones County Courthouse in Ellisville to undergo restoration construction


ELLISVILLE, Miss. - The Jones County First District Courthouse in Ellisville will undergo construction to maintain its historic look.

Jones County Board of Supervisors Chief of Communications Officer, Chataura Sanders said thanks to a grant from the Mississippi Department of Archives and History, damages can be repaired.

“The first phase will be to keep the building dry, so re-roofing, there some buildings that need to be replaced and restored. There are also some outside cosmetic fixtures, along with some very historic features that will be replaced,” said Sanders

Sanders shared the specs and plans are already drawn up, officials are awaiting for the final plans to be submitted to the Board of Supervisors for approval to take further action.
