Shop with a Cop Applications Now Available
HATTIESBURG, MISS. - The holidays are right around the corner and the Laurel Police Department wants residents to turn in their Christmas list. The Laurel Police Department is now accepting applications for "Shop with a Cop." Cpt. Tommy Cox encourages residents to come by and fill out an application. "Well for many years, our local fraternal order of police which is largely made up of current and retired police officers, with a few other agencies sprinkled in have sponsored 'Shop with a Cop' around Christmas to provide Christmas gifts for children in need in our area," Cpt. Cox said. "We are currently taking applications for 'Shop with a Cop' if you come by the front office of the police department. It is open twenty-four hours a day. They'll give you an application that you turn back in, and as funds and donations allow... then the officers in two weeks will be handling that, making Christmas a little better for a few children." Laurel police will be taking applications for "Shop with a Cop" the next two weeks.
