Restaurant awards year supply of Chick-fil-A meals to First 100 in line

LAUREL, Miss. (Dec. 7, 2017) – Local franchise owner Brittney Pickering will open Laurel’s second Chick-fil-A restaurant on Dec. 7, bringing 95 new jobs to the area and a grand opening community celebration with the chance for 100 adults to participate in a Chick-fil-A First 100 campout, where participants can earn a free year supply of Chick-fil-A, as well as a community children’s book drive.
The grand opening events at the new restaurant at 1138 Highway 15 N. will get underway on Dec. 6 when a family-friendly overnight First 100 party will pop up in the new restaurant parking lot 24 hours before the grand opening as guests try to be one of the first 100 adults through the door to win a year of free Chick-fil-A meals. This community event is open to guests residing in specific zip codes surrounding the restaurant. The Chick-fil-A First 100
A tradition going back more than 13 years, Chick-fil-A’s First 100 celebration has given away more than $31 million in free food through 2016 and continues to be the chain’s signature grand opening event. Rain, snow and extreme temperatures do not deter Chick-fil-A fans who arrive with tents, chairs, TVs and computers to stay entertained.
Each fan hopes to win a digital offer card loaded with a one-year supply of free Chick-fil-A meals (52 meals with each consisting of a Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich, medium Waffle Potato Fries and a medium beverage) that will be awarded to the first 100 eligible adults– ages 18 and older with identification – around 5:45 a.m. on Dec. 7 If more than 100 people are onsite when the line officially opens at 6 a.m. on Dec. 6 a drawing will be held to randomly select the First 100. Those chosen will be required to camp out until the grand opening in order to secure their spot.
About Franchise Operator Brittney Pickering
Becoming a Chick-fil-A Operator is no small feat with the company receiving nearly 30,000 applications yearly for approximately 100 franchise opportunities. Mississippi native Pickering, whose roots in the Laurel community extend back four generations, cultivated her love of Chick-fil-A when she first joined the team at the Madison, Miss. location in 2008. After only 21 months, Pickering’s dream of becoming an Operator was realized when she was selected to operate the Chick-fil-A restaurant at Turtle Creek Mall in 2010 and then transferred to operate the Sawmill Square Mall location from 2012 to 2017. The hard work and results of her and her team members guest efforts enabled the restaurant to earn the Symbol of Success and Champions Club awards in 2016 -- the company’s highest honors for Operators.
Holding true to her Mississippi roots, Pickering graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a marketing degree in 2005. She is supported by her husband, Stan whom she started dating in high school and whose family has lived in Laurel for five generations, and their three children, with one named after the founder of Chick-fil-A.

The 4,613-square-foot Laurel Chick-fil-A restaurant features a:
· heritage restaurant design that showcases handmade, authentic materials for a vintage-inspired interior, including a large gathering table made from reclaimed wood, subway tiles, and light fixtures made from recycled Coca-Cola bottles and peach baskets.
· two-story interactive indoor play area for children and free Wi-Fi.
· two Chick-fil-A One mobile ordering reserved parking spots and dual drive-thru ordering lanes and screens to enable customers to move quickly into a single lane for payment and pickup.
· dining room that seats 93 and an additional 12 outdoor patio seats.
· full-service menu with a variety of healthy and dietary options and breakfast until 10:30 a.m., and will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Chick-fil-A locations are closed on Sunday to provide a day of rest and time with family and friends for team members.
Chick-fil-A in Mississippi
Chick-fil-A opened Mississippi’s first location nearly 40 years ago in March 1978 at the Metrocenter Mall in Jackson. Becoming the 80th location in Mississippi, the newest Laurel restaurant is the community’s second Chick-fil-A and is among the last of 116 Chick-fil-A locations to open this year across the country, creating some 10,000 new jobs.
