Weather notes for Hattiesburg, Forrest County
(The following is a portion of a press release from Hattiesburg City Hall.)
Based on the forecasted model provided by the National Weather Service and the briefing by Forrest County Emergency Management District, City Hall will be open, business as usual, on Friday, Dec. 8.
If the weather inhibits an employee’s ability to make it to work, he or she should contact their immediate supervisor.
City crews are prepared with salt and sand to help with road conditions where necessary.
The 361 Community Shelter (946 Sullivan Drive) will be open, beginning at 6 p.m. tonight and will be open through Noon tomorrow. The City of Hattiesburg's Mass Transit system will provide transportation for anyone who needs a ride to the shelter, through 10 p.m. Thursday night. To schedule a ride, Hattiesburg residents should contact 601-545-4500.
The shelter will also be open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 6 p.m. until 6 a.m. for temperatures below freezing.
We are asking that all residents check on their neighbors and help where needed – and also that they adhere to all traffic and road warnings.
