Power restoration efforts underway with Dixie Electric

(The following is a press release from Dixie Electric.)

Downed trees and broken limbs from the weight of the snow are continuing to cause outages. As of 11:30 a.m. Friday, more than 7,600 members are without power.

Here is a current breakdown by county:

• Clarke – 7 • Covington - 71 • Forrest – 149 • Jones – 5,368 • Perry – 206 • Wayne – 1,482

Linemen are working to repair the lines.

Dixie Electric’s offices are open and are receiving calls. The office phone lines are quite busy receiving outage calls. If a member needs to report an outage, here are some alternate ways to do that: call 888-465-9209, use the SmartHub app or go to prepared.dixieepa.com and report an outage through the outage map.

If you need to call the offices, those numbers are as follows: (601) 425-2535 in Laurel, (601) 735-2072 in Waynesboro and (601) 583-1131 in Petal. Dixie Electric will also provide updates online at dixieepa.com, on Facebook or on Twitter at @DixieEPA.

Dixie Electric Power Association serves 39,000 accounts in a seven-county area in south Mississippi, including Jones, Wayne, Perry, Forrest, Covington, Clarke and Jasper counties.
