US Congressman Palazzo hopes unpopular government shutdown doesn't strike twice

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The recent government shut down lasted three days after a failure to pass legislation to fund government operations and agencies. US Congressman Steven Palazzo hopes Democrats remember the effects of their decisions that caused the shut down and their drop in approval ratings.

“The democrats aren’t going to forget that this wasn’t a very popular shut down. When you are picking people who are here illegally over the American citizens, over children who have health care needs and we we’re providing for that. They voted against it and also our military," said Palazzo.

The government shutdown stemmed from disputes over the extension of those affected by the DACA immigration policy and whether those covered under the program should face deportation.
