New benches and trashcans installed downtown Hattiesburg, apart of Go Cup ordinance

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Hattiesburg city crews added new trash cans and benches around downtown Tuesday morning. The new installments are a result of an incorporation of the Go Cup ordinance.

Historic Hattiesburg Downtown Association Executive Director Andrea Saffle said the new addition gives the area a polished look. “We incorporated the trashcans into the go cup ordinance…so when people are walking around downtown with their go cups they’ve got a place conveniently located in every block to put their trash. Also, the look of them, just trying to incorporate that black iron look throughout downtown and just beautification also,” she explained.

The first trash can and bench installment was made at the intersection of Front Street and Main Street.
