Local florist shop expects to sell hundreds of roses for Valentine's Day

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Valentine’s day is tomorrow and one local florist is expecting to sell more than 1,000 roses and dozens of balloons in Hattiesburg.

The Southland Florists shop owner Sara Marchetta said inventory trucks are filled with holiday arrangements ready for last minute purchases.

“We’re doing chocolate covered strawberries this year. So I worked with the local lady to get those ready for us and pre-order those,” Marchetta said.

She said people are used to traditional options, “We also do a lot of mixed arrangements with spring flowers like hydrangeas and tulips,” Marchetta said.

One area of sales that has been popular lately are the traditional red roses. “People are traditional and like the different options for red roses. We also do a lot of mixed arrangements with spring flowers like hydrangeas and tulips,” Marchetta said.

Southland Florists will be open and taking special orders tomorrow until 4 pm.
