Fuzzy Taco Shop opens in Hattiesburg Midtown District

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - A new restaurant franchise will open their doors to the public Wednesday.

“We want to cater to the university and we partnered with the university fund with Southern Miss over there. We also hope to cater to the hospital behind us and really be a big part of the entire community. As you can see from our décor here we are Southern Miss to the top all the way,” said owner, Trey Ziegler.

Fuzzy Taco Shop is a Baja Mexican style restaurant that has brought 45 jobs to Hattiesburg. “We’re really a city that is run with sales tax dollars that’s where we get most of our money for our general fund. So, it’s very important that you shop here and you eat here and we receive a lot of revenue from that,” said City Councilman, Carter Carroll.

Midtown developers said Fuzzy Taco Shop's atmosphere and bar services as a destination spot for Southern Miss sport fans.

“We have draft beers, margaritas, we do have a full bar. So just a little bit of something for everybody really with a laid back atmosphere that we thought would be really fun for Hattiesburg,” Ziegler stated.

The franchise headquarters is located in Fort Worth, Texas. According to the local owner, there are about 140 restaurant locations across the country, while the Hattiesburg location serves as the first in Mississippi.
