HATTIESBURG, MISS. - Tuesday morning, the Hattiesburg Fire Department added two more firefighters to the staff. Hattiesburg’s Mayor Toby Barker and Interim Fire Chief Stephen Mooney swore in the firefighters, while pinning them with their new Hattiesburg Fire Department badge. The two firefighters Robert Wells and Ethan Wigley both are lateral transfers with four years of experience. Wells comes from the Pearl Fire Department, and Wigley comes from the El Dorado Fire Department in Arkansas. With the addition these two new firemen, the department is currently at a total of 107 firefighters. “Every person that we have adds to the manpower and it makes the way we serve the community better,” Mooney said. “It makes it easier and more efficient for us to serve and maintain the numbers we need for the bureau.”
