Earth Week at USM

HATTIESBURG, MISS. - The University of Southern Mississippi Office of Sustainability is hosting a series of events on the Hattiesburg Campus from April 16th to April 21st to celebrate Earth Week. Organizations on and off campus are promoting environmental awareness and concerns while sharing ideas on the best sustainability practices. “It is exciting to be having any kind of event going on, especially ones that we could learn about sustainability, recycling, and earth day in general,” President of USM’s Horticultural Club Sarah Watts said. “We are selling herbs and vegetables as well as a bunch of other plants for the Southern Miss Community Garden.” Festivities include events such as the Hattiesburg Earth Fair in Town Square Park from 3 p.m.-6 p.m. on April 19 and a Field Trip to Fulmer’s Farmstead and general store from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in Fulmer’s Farmstead, among many others. Earth week will last until Friday, April 21.
