Baptist Ministerial Association donates money to National Urban Professional Baseball League

LAUREL, Miss. - The Baptist Ministerial Association Laurel, Ms. are on board with the Josh Gibson professional baseball team coming to Wooten Legion Park in Laurel Mississippi. As they presented the National Urban Professional Baseball League with a $1,000 sponsor check on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Shoney’s Restaurant after a meeting with the League Director Michael E. Mayden and Rosie Matthews the Laurel Regional Director. They also pledged to get other sponsors on board to embrace the league. The meeting was attended by Pastor Bill Harper, Arthur Logan, Verman Graves, Daniel Williamson, J.L. Holloway, George Thomas, A.G. McSwain, Randolph Garman, Pastor Bumch, and city councilman/Pastor Jason Capers. “I reached out to these Pastors and community leaders for support of this league and they responded. I am very happy and grateful to these gentlemen’s for a favorable response (Mike Mayden).”. On this coming Monday, April 23 – Thursday, April 26, 2018 there will be exhibition games scheduled at 6 p.m. Wooten Legion Park to introduce the team to the public. All baseball fans and the citizens of Laurel are invited and encouraged to come out there is no admission charge all seats are free
