Southern Miss Police issue scam alert involving baseball team

(The following is a press release from the University of Southern Mississippi.)

The University of Southern Mississippi Police Department advises the Hattiesburg campus community and surrounding area to be aware of a reported person soliciting donations for the Golden Eagles baseball team. The suspect is described as a white male in his early 20s, wearing Southern Miss attire and carrying a backpack. There is no authorized solicitation in person or by phone for the program at this time, and no varsity athletics program at the university will make direct solicitations in this manner for monetary support.
