Southern Pines Hosts 6th Annual Quin's Day, A Fee-waived Adoption Event

This is a press release from Southern Pines Animal Shelter.

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - From Friday, July 27th to Sunday, July 29th, Southern Pines Animal Shelter is hosting its sixth annual Quin’s Day in honor and memory of Quin Thomson, a 17-year-old Sacred Heart student who passed away in an automobile accident in 2013.

Quin had a big heart for animals, especially his own cat, and so each year, Southern Pines celebrates his life and love for animals by helping homeless pets to find their homes during this special adoption event.

As a tribute to Quin, Southern Pines will be hosting a special fee-waived adoption event made possible in part by generous grant funding from Best Friends Animal Society and by donations from community supporters. In the hope of finding forever homes for 100 cats and dogs, adoption fees will be waived for all cats, kittens, and select dogs, both at the shelter location and the local Hattiesburg Petco and Petsmart stores.

We’re honored to continue this annual celebration of Quin’s life, and to remember this wonderful young man and his love for animals through this special adoption event,” says Ginny Sims, Shelter Director. “Quin’s Day is a wonderful opportunity to spread Quin's love to our community by helping homeless animals find their forever homes and by helping families become a little more complete through pet adoption.”

“In order to make fee-waived adoption events like Quin’s Day possible for our animals and for our community, we do rely heavily on donations,” says Sims. “In order to make sure that all of our animals are vetted and fixed for adoption events like Quin’s Day, the expenses can climb to between $5000 and $7500, so donations of any amount are much appreciated to help offset those costs.”

If the community would like to make a donation in memory of Quin to help animals in need find their forever homes, donations can be made online at www.southernpinesanimalshelter.org/donate, in person at the shelter, or by mail at PO Box 2021, Hattiesburg, MS 39403

The event will run from 11am-5pm on Friday & Saturday, July 27th & July 28th, and from 1pm-5pm on Sunday July 29th. Adoptions include age appropriate vaccines, spay/neuter surgery, a microchip, 30 days of pet health insurance, and a bag of food.
