Jones EMA Director Steps Down

LAUREL, MISS. - The Jones County executive director of the Emergency Management Agency, Marda Tullos recently announced her plans to step down from the position Tullos made her announcement to retire after Jones County Sheriff, Alex Hodge and Laurel Police Chief, Tyrone Stewart made motions to have Tullos terminated. Both Stewart and Hodge say, Tullos did not always send dispatchers quick enough. However despite the chief's and sheriff's motion, the Emergency Management Agency council and the Board of Supervisors elected to keep Tullos, but due to the recent controversy Tullos ultimately decided to retire. “There was a request for a change in leadership, and I am ready for that change,” Tullos said. "I'm ready to pass the baton on to someone else, and see what the next chapter in my life will bring.” Tullos worked with the department for 31 years, and her last day on the job will be Friday.
