ELLISVILLE, MISS. - Jones College, in conjunction with the Jones County EDA, is participating in the ACT Work Ready Community Certification Initiative. After being accepted into the program last October, Sandy Holifield-Jones County EDA Director and Greg Butler-Jones County-Director of the Jones College Advanced Technology Center attended four required academies learning how to earn the ACT WorkKeys National Career Readiness Certificate (WRC) and National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC).

This globally recognized certification is used by site selectors and those seeking to expand, locate their company, or open a new location, as a way to find the best possible areas to fit their needs. The CWRC certification is an industry recognized credential that clearly identifies an individual’s WorkKeys skills in several areas and determines if the workforce is prepared. Jones County is now officially “Lit Up.”

The Jones College Mechatronics/Robotics Lab is utilized by students in the Electro-Mechanical Technology Program, which officially opened this fall. Because of market/industry demands, Jones modified the Industrial Electronics program to the Electro-Mechanical Technology program. In addition to earning an Associate of Applied Science degree in Electro-Mechanical Technology, students can apply for an Advanced Certificate in Mechatronics Technology as an option for a third year in the Electro-Mechanical Technology program. Currently, a non-credit Mechatronics course is being conducted through Workforce College.
