Highway 184 closing affecting Northeast Jones Schools

Powers Fire & Rescue tells staff members, students, and their parents that State Highway 184, just east of Dixie Electric Power Association, remains closed due to bridge damage at Dry Swamp from recent flooding.

"Please alter your travel route to and from the elementary, middle and high school when school starts back next week to account for this road/bridge closure," Lance Chancellor with Powers Fire & Rescue added in a press release.

The Jones County School District notes Monday, January 7th, remains a previously scheduled student holiday as well as a professional development day. The school district adds members of the 185-day personnel do not need to report to work January 7th. Students return to class Tuesday, January 8th.
