Britton spent his career in business and finance before running for Public Service Commissioner for the Southern District. Tuesday morning, Britton visited Hattiesburg to take on questions from the media, in front of the Forrest County Circuit Court. “I have announced my candidacy for the Secretary of State,” Britton stated. “In the state of Mississippi, we are last in personal income. As Secretary of State, I will make that a focus [to see] economic growth during my term, because the economy plays such a vitally important part as we move forward.” Britton will face off against State Senator, Michael Watson in the GOP primary election.
