Pine Belt, much of Mississippi brace for T.S. Barry

Mississippi will soon feel the effects of Barry.

The National Weather Service is issuing a Flash Flood Watch for these Mississippi counties, in alphabetical order, from Saturday morning through Monday morning: Adams, Claiborne, Copiah, Covington, Forrest, Franklin, Hinds, Jefferson, Jefferson Davis, Jones, Lamar, Lawrence, Lincoln, Marion, Rankin, Scott, Simpson, Smith, and Warren.

The NWS says Barry will begin to spread heavy rainfall into much of Mississippi this weekend. Rainfall amounts of as much as twelve inches are possible -- which will lead to flash flooding.

A Flash Flood Watch means conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding, a dangerous situation.
