Salvation Army in Laurel seeking monetary donations after COVID-19, storms

The Salvation Army's Laurel Corps is experiencing a growing need for financial assistance due to COVID-19 concerns and recent storms.

As of this writing, the Laurel shelter has 16 residents and serves 75 meals a day to local residents. The Salvation Army's mobile canteen served meals to residents and first responders after the Easter Sunday storms in Jones County.

"The Laurel Corps will remain open and ready to supply prepared meals and food boxes for anyone in need, but we need monetary assistance to continue helping our community," Laurel Corps Officer Major Raymond Pruitt said in a statement.
