MSDH: 22 more patients die of COVID-19 complications

The Mississippi State Department of Health reports 234 new cases of COVID-19 in the state with 22 new deaths. Seven of the 22 fatalities were confirmed from death certificate reports between April 25 and May 3, the MSDH said.
Mississippi's total of COVID-19 cases since March 11 now stands at 9908, with 457 deaths. The number of Mississippians hospitalized with confirmed COVID-19 infections has risen to 450, the MSDH added.
Sixteen of the newest cases were among residents in long-term care facilities. There are now 115 active outbreaks of COVID-19 in long-term care facilities -- where an outbreak is one or more cases among residents or staff, health officials said.
