Hattiesburg Vets Committee, city host modified Memorial Day observance

The Hattiesburg Veterans Committee unveils plans for a modified Memorial Day observance in Hattiesburg. The event, which will not be open to the public, can be heard on WFOR 92.7 FM and 1400 AM on May 25th starting at 10 a.m. The observance will also be streamed on the City of Hattiesburg's Facebook page.

"The program will not be the usual big show with canons and color guard but will include the readying of the 173 names of the young men that gave their lives in defense of our country from World War I through today," the Hattiesburg Veterans Committee said in a statement to FOX23.

Mayor Toby Barker will be among the guest speakers.
