MSDH: COVID-19 death toll rises by 27
The Mississippi State Department of Health reports 272 new cases of COVID-19 in the state and 27 new deaths. The state's total of COVID-19 cases since March 11 now stands at 11,704 -- with 554 deaths. There are 441 Mississippians hospitalized with confirmed COVID-19 infection, the MSDH said.
The MSDH added 45 of the new cases reported today were among residents in long-term care facilities -- and there are now 98 active outbreaks of COVID-19 in long-term care facilities, where an outbreak is one or more cases among residents or staff.
